<description>Great post, Gordon. This is a solid place for guys to start this practice on their own. I have yet to dive in for myself, but after reading this I&#039;m inspired to give it a go. Thanks, G.

<description>I emailed Tripp a while ago about my experience using EFT. He reminded me I could just post directly to the show page here. So here are a few key points that might be useful for others using EFT.

1) View some actual footage of it being used effectively. This will allow you to get the principle of how it works, and give you some ideas about what you could use it for. Best footage of it being used with others is on http://www.youtube.com/emofree
Really watch the people on the videos. Notice their state before, and after.

2) Try it yourself. Tap along with Brad on his site. http://www.bradyates.net/. I have not seen all of Brads videos yet, but a friend of mine says he is their favorite EFT guy. I like the videos I have seen with him so far. I have also noticed that because EFT is so available for anyone to practice, there are as many different personalities behind who is offering it as there are different styles of coaching or therapy. In my opinion it is those who have a good understanding of some coaching, or therapeutic principles that are using EFT most effectively with others.

3) Use it in conjunction with other approaches you know - In the past few years I started to coach people part-time as a hobby - mostly using NLP, and hypnosis. After applying EFT in my own life and experiencing profound positive results, I started to try it with others who I was coaching.

I&#039;ve used EFT to help others de-stress - basically neutralize the negative effect of whatever thought, idea, or fear that their body was reacting to - and was preventing them from just being okay in this moment. As soon as they became &quot;okay in this moment&quot; as a result of doing the tapping (relaxed, at peace -the fight or flight or stress response is turned off) ... the solution to their problem would arise almost on its own. This relaxed state is also a very good state to then do a little bit of eyes closed guided visualization, or hypnosis.

4) Get ready to feel really good. I tried it on my own for awhile with mixed results. I then decided to do a full 90 minute session with an amazing EFT practitioner named Annabel http://www.efthealingcentre.com/

There is a funny thing that happens when you correctly hit those meridian points consistently for over an hour. The body tends to fill with endorphins. Think of how good you feel when you have a long massage. When those points are tapped correctly the reflex that is sent through your body triggers a natural high. The endorphins also come from your brain literally rewiring itself.

The &#039;issues&#039; that used to trigger stress hormones in the body, our brain is now learning to experience them in a whole new way. It is said that EFT triggers chemicals that neutralize the fight or flight response in the part of the brain that produces fight or flight. We will still be able to access fight or flight chemicals when needed, but the whole idea is to neutralize the response in relation to the areas of our life that are more useful for us to experience our natural confidence, love, compassion or whatever.

5) Try it with relationship issues. When I first learned EFT I applied it to the habitual wimpy anxiety states I used to feel whenever my girlfriend was not happy with me, or even when she was just not happy in general.

After tapping the points in relation to the &#039;scary&#039; ideas I had about her being unhappy (what it meant about me, what I thought I was supposed to do about it, etc. etc.) ... I began to notice some profound changes. The things she used to do and say that would trigger my worry or &quot;I got to fix everything attitude&quot; were no longer making me feel as bad.

I used to think that if I was calm, grounded, and confident even when my girlfriend was upset ... that It would make things worse. Well ... I guess there is a difference between being calm, grounded, and confident and cocky about it ... (that could make it worse) ... but when you are just calm, and grounded so you can notice more, be yourself, and in my opinion ... be more compassionate and helpful in the long run ... then it makes sense to learn how to feel better first ... and then help others do the same when you want to ...

I have used EFT for a few different relationships in my life.

I heard someone say that when you can begin to feel better and better around those people that used to trigger unhappiness in you ... one of two things will happen. Either those people will transform around you (they will feel better and better more of the time) or you will begin to naturally attract people into your life who are more aligned with your new way of being.

I hope this has been useful for others. I put up a website recently for anyone interested in contacting me. Feel free to ask me any questions about using EFT, Self-hypnosis, NLP to make any kind of changes in your life with greater ease.

Thanks again Tripp
I continue to be inspired by the interviews you share and the approach you take to helping others.
